Platform for Humans and Birds / La Biennale di Venezia

Platform for Humans and Birds La Biennale di Architettura di Venezia, Italy. 2021

The Platform for Humans and Birds, is a modular, cast landscape, rich in affordances and possibilities of action: a place to eat, play, touch, and negotiate boundaries between our specie and others. Edible insertions, water collection bowls, along with games and backrests inform its texture; three cast dovecote towers oversee it from the perimeter; twelve tall perches cast their shadow upon it, places for birds to rest, nest, feed, or hunt. The platform explores the relation with birds as a form of play, proposing a cast surface-landscape where to negotiate boundaries, territories, resources and affordances with another specie. As relations evolve, so does the platform, as boundaries are drawn, shaped, negotiated, and territories appear and dissolve upon it.
